Lost at sea
By Mushka Cohen
Vulnerable to life
Their pains coming to eat my chest
Where can I go?
Where can I run?
I’m here
It’s coming at me
Its crashes fast
It doesn’t ask me
It just is
It happens
Happens at me, to me, maybe even for!
Where am I?!
What is me beside it?
Can I differ from their waves?
Sleep on some ship flying to safety
Or a rock
An island with maybe a tree
a lover to hold me tight
Let my tears flow on the sand
Or at least a post
A direction to where is east
To know that my tread is worth
a claim that I’m doing something
that I’m not just running round and round!
Give me a rope!
whoever is listening
please! a rope
to hold onto what’s real
what’s strong
stronger than my weary feet
whoever is listening
they say there is
maybe it’s true
maybe
i mean isn’t that the only thing left now?
The only thing that keeps my eyes up
My face out of the salty water
To breath another breath
Give me something!
Something to breath to
Maybe even to sing.
